Event Recap 2025 – Round 2 – Chuckwalla CCW

The 2025 Honda Time Attack Challenge Round 2 at Chuckwalla Valley Raceway is in the books! Nearly 25 competitors raced against time at their chance for a podium finish.

In Street Class Patrick Funnamark took P3 with a 2:16.792 lap time in a FL5 Civic Type R. Markos Mylonas came from Pheonix and took P2 with a time of 2:04.047, impressive for an AP1 w/staggered tire setup! For P1 we have our HTAC veteran driver Marck Tejada putting down a time of 2:03.099 in a FA5 Civic after duking it out with the German muscle on track. Congratulations on the class win Marck!

Street Modified class, what can I say?! 4 of our 12 competitors, John Gonzales, Isabella Gonzalez, Jiachen Yan, and Paul Choa, entered a Do-or-Die round for session 4! Isabella put down a PB lap for the weekend and John Gonzales jumped on the chance for a P3 podium finish with a time of 1:59.78x in his AP2 S2000, bumping Kai Workman down to 4th! For P2 we saw our class competitors break into deep Sub2 territory, Sean Conboy turned a 1:57.808 lap time in his EK Civic. For P1 Markus Lenderman opened everyone’s eyes to the EP3 Civic that could, inching near a new class record with a lap time of 1:56.982! The class record will be yours next time Markus, congratulations on the class win for round 2! Street Modified competition is officially on fire for 2025, jump in the melee battle or miss out folks!

Race Modified Class has entirely upped the ante for 2025. All 3 podium finishers broke the course class record, some breaking it harder than others (sorry again Robert lol). In P3 we have Joey Cadavid in a AP1 S2000 with a time of 1:55.137 battling through the German and American muscle traffic on track. In P2 Robert Burch clocked a 1:53.216 in a AP1 S2000, showing Speed Venture’s Advanced RED group that Hondas are to be reckoned with. For P1, rumor has it that HTAC now has the fastest NA S2000 at Chuckwalla…we need some fact checking done folks…congratulations to Ger Xiong for lighting the track on fire with a lap time of 1:51.179 in a AP1 S2000! Will this be THE record for HTAC and the Road Racing community to beat for years to come? Wow!

And last, but not least, we have our Unlimited Class. In a K-swapped NA Miata, Brandon Huang drifted around track with class to put down a 2:01.837 lap time for P3. He’s a smooth operator folks! In P2 we have Russell Johnson in a head turning DC2 Integra Type R with a lap time of 2:00.459. Finally, we have Kevin Yi in P1 with a lap time of 1:57.620 in a AP2 S2000; send Kevin some good vibes folks, he wasn’t able to put down a hot lap and we are eager to see what he can really do this year! We’re rooting for you Kevin, congratulations on the class win!
